I was looking up something called "American Girl" dolls since I am utterly obscure to these new fangled toys. I was interested because it somehow got related with VH1's "I Love Toys" marathon.

One of the links I found, however, included an article on conservative Christians shunning this toy because it had to do with a group that had been known to be pro-abortion?

[livejournal.com profile] delennamachoo, I'm surprised you didn't talk about this one. Or did you? I can't tell, this all looks wacky to me.

Here it is:
"We recognize the right of all women to choose whether, when, and under what circumstances to bear children. Reproductive freedom and responsibility are essential to other rights and opportunities, including pursuit of education, employment, financial security and a stable and fulfilling family life. Restrictions of reproductive choice are especially burdensome for young women and poor women. Girls Incorporated supports a woman’s freedom of choice, a constitutional right established by the U.S. Supreme Court in 1973 in Roe vs. Wade."

I still don't see the problem. It's just more of the pro-lifers trying to say that advocating reproductive freedom = advocating murder :P.

How wonderful for them to find something to shame even when it attempts to empower positive values. These people must be bible-belt Christians to take something like this and look at it another way.

On a side note, I doubt it actually means this, but did you find it strange that the whole kettleburning began at a "high school" football game? I almost thought the parents were still teens until I kept reminding myself that they had four daughters.

I didn't read the whole thing. I often elect not to evaluate the thoughts of people who are refusing to evaluate the thoughts of others. These people gave no further thought than "murder" yet being pro-choice is so not about abortion at all. It's easier for that woman to convince herself we're all about killing babies, so she doesn't have to think about it any further.
