I was idly conversing with someone I know about the elections. The topic then came up on elections and I mentioned that I wasn't voting for Kerry. Immediately, I am BARRAGED with comments not because I am a conservative (I am not), but because I am putting my faith into an independent party. Will they fail? Chances are likely, but I don't like Kerry or Bush. She is currently so mad at me right now that she just blocked my name. Strangely enough, I have been trying to be as genial as possible with her during the conversation until I finally told her just how much Kerry annoyed me to a level that begins to subside with Bush.

This is the first time I'm actually caring about voting since I missed out on 2000 when I wanted to support Nader but instead watched him get boned by Gore for taking democratic votes. He admitted it, but as someone that didn't like Bush OR Gore, I wasn't going to vote for either to begin with.

2004 will probably be an amazing election date since it'll be one of the few times when so many people will be voting. It will also be one of the few times when I feel like there are so many people rallied together just to depose Bush. Somewhere in between, though, I feel like it stopped becoming an election and started becoming a country-wide impeachment method. I mean, I do get annoyed as all hell at Bush and all, but do I have to vote for Kerry just because I don't like Bush? I know the passion against Bush is strong, and I share that sentiment. Still, I don't think Kerry is the right man for me either. My brother the conservative was joking about how he wished Dean was chosen since he doesn't like the options, either, and so are a number of my professors and I remember in 2000 that my parents, also conservatives (I'm the black sheep liberal of the family) chose Nader since they thought Gore and Bush were equally despicable.

I know that Kerry will win anyway because so many people are rallied into this anti-Bush battle and the advocacy done by people like Michael Moore and various celebrities are helping (even though from what I hear from his lecture circuit, Moore seems to care more about sales than the politics of it all), and I know almost every university out there will probably be voting for Kerry. I want my vote to show that people don't want people like Kerry or Bush. I doubt it will be heard, since it will just be another statistic, but you know what? At least I can feel guiltless about not being just another person that turned the election into a mob-run coup.
