Feb. 4th, 2019 05:24 pmSo is "Ong Bak" just a modern remake of "Action Jackson?" I just listened to the HDTGM of "Action Jackson" and it was pretty much sold as a movie made by a famous stuntman family so had no plot as a result. I mean, that's "Ong Bak" in a nutshell.
Anyway, this week had made me hate salt stains which I have been in a long fight with at the second job. Every day, I keep thinking about heading home early and then I see the salt stains and feel guilty if I leave them alone, so I end up staying late getting the stains mopped up as much as possible. It's annoying because I seriously would rather be doing other things.
At least it's warm out, like warm enough to potentially not have me slip and slide outside, but we'll see soon.
As for this weekend, I thrived in doing nothing. Made a second batch of fire chicken for this week (this time spicy, I promised Michelle!) and a batch of curry. I don't know why, now that I look at it, as the fridge still has food from last week, but I think I'm just used to making food all the time. Beyond that, it was fixing the computer, which now no longer gets one BSOD error, but another one instead.
So for the first time in my life, I did a firmware update for a motherboard that I bought in 2013. Apparently, a motherboard so old that the latest BIOS they had was released in late 2014. HA!
I'm glad the system is holding up nicely despite that as I kept stress testing by playing Battletech (which I finally figured out how to get running properly while modded as well!). No hiccups and no hangs, just an inability to play old campaigns because one of the older mods did not translate into the newest version of the game. Yay. So yeah, caught up on some manga, ate a pizza that you could best describe as a "deconstructed big mac," and relaxed.
I think we needed the relaxation because I swear the past week we noticed our tendency to feel tired very easily. Are we still fighting something off? Am I giving ourselves anemia? I put spinach in everything I made and beef as well just in case.
Apparently, I missed out on football which is a-ok with me. It turns out this Superbowl was one of the least popular for awhile, only being dwarfed by Superbowl 7. That's right, we're at number 50-something and it has outdone almost every single one outside of one of the originals back in the day when baby boomers still played football instead of criticized it. Amazing. I have also resorted to keeping up with some of the news in the political spectrum and cringed about it as well from many different angles in terms of what's going on. Amazing.
This week I need to make a huge purchase of USB-Cs as the cord population has dwindled to a scant number. My cords, which have taken strides to tangle themselves into promiscuous knots but simultaneously refused to procreate, have all aged poorly to the point where what cords I have are either only used in the most pampered way (in my bed or the computer where they barely move) or eke out a meager attempt at power (in my bag and in the car).
I've taken to Amazon and found the OEM models for my cords which shocks me alone, but I also have been reticent on making the plunge because of the cost of buying a new cluster as well as the fact that I've been eyeing a chance to get a carton of powdered cheese for experiments as well as mushroom kernels of popcorn, so they wait in my cart, unbought.
I was bragging to Michelle the week before that I was going to get out of January with a surprisingly low credit account for this month.
I guess that's what I get for thinking I could get away with it.
