Another entry on the road. As I stand on the 45 minute ride to the university, I cannot help but find bemusement at the fact that I got to sleep in on a workday. It does little to curb boredom, though, when you're waiting twenty to forty minutes for a damn train. I suddenly remember why I hated commuting to class again.

After taking photos of the local dead things (can you elieve how many dead birds you can find at a railway station?), I snickered at bemusement at an flist laden with sexy animals, game systems, and manly cooking.

I got a seat! Hooray.

By the way, some interesting observations:

-Newark International Airport is right next to a Budweiser factory and a low security penitentiary.

-Around Secaucus Transfer station, there is an old 50's era gas truck lying among the marsh roads.

-There was a brushfire along the marshes close to the tracks along the way to New York.

-There's a firing range somewhere in the marshes along to Hoboken. I've only seen it once, but heard it many times.

-The verdict between Jersey being the industrial wasteland or the garden state is difficult to discern when most of the way along the tracks are woodlands amongst heaped old machinery and dead factories.

Photos to come when I have the convenience to actually see what the codes are.

There's a commercial for some chain jeweler's around here called "Kay's." Normally, I'd forget it, but I heard it on the radio so I'm annoyed again.

The whole thing starts with a woman in a blindfold being guided through the yard by her husband. Finding the right place, he undoes the blindfold and what does she see? Their four to eight year old progeny behind instruments. And they sing a Happy Mother's Day song. Considering we know how hard it is to play instruments (let alone at that age), I have to say that it's very terribly sweet and mom expresses surprise and this happiness.

THEEEEN it switches to the hubby getting her a diamond necklace and then we REALLY see her show these emotions put on overload. That's right, who cares as much about your kids going all out, training for weeks to play in coordination with each other, tuning their instruments and everything else just to try to make something nice for you; all we really care about is the bling. Those poor kids probably won't even get remembered for their effort.

It might just be me, but I find that disgusting. It's almost as bad as hearing the radio commercials about the woman talking explicitly with her man about how he really gets it on now thanks to his performance enhancing drugs, as compared to before when he was basically nothing.

Capitalism starts with Kay.
