Another Busy Month

Still stuck in a rut handling edits from one contract, but the other job is moving along and that's all fine by me! Things are starting to resolve (though at the same time I swear the more I work on my contract role the more I am stuck wondering if I am going to get fired soon or I was always just a figurehead role of some kind. I guess I must be doing something right because I have yet to get removed but I swear I never feel comfortable. I guess one good thing about this entire experience is that I finally have some people answering things that they never tell me. Plus while it's a job with an okay pay rate, as a part time it's actually decent.
I was told about a six month extension for the contract and every time I think of that, I can't help but think that I am going to eventually get removed from the role (though I think they're aware now that I do more than gather dust so maybe I'll stick around a little longer).
The past few weekends have been tiring for me. I got into using Michelle's Peloton more as I found a few familiar locations in their cycling list and it lead to one Wednesday where I was doing 45 minutes along the bike path that runs all the way into Hero. That was a mistake. Michelle told me that I set off the CO2 alarms if you want any idea of how bad it was. Still, I did it!
My latest attempts to learn more about train routes somehow found me deep into transit Youtube and now I'm addicted to this one channel called Miles in Transit which is nerding out over buses and train lines combined with memes. It's fascinating and Miles is an entertaining host as he usually collabs with his roomie who does a lot of twee pop. At the least it's been giving us ideas for future trips.
In fact, our weekend was determined thanks to it teaching us there is a free IKEA ferry that goes between Midtown to South Street Seaport to Red Hook. We barely had enough time to really go to IKEA so we just rode the boat and enjoyed the views. For free!
Okay, so we wanted to do a little more than that so dropped off by South Street Seaport, fed my Pokemon Go needs, ended up walking into a food festival we didn't want to participate in since it was so loud, got free crookies from Le Pain Quotidien, and then walked! Walked! Walked!!
Michelle never really visited NYC beyond Midtown so I gave her the ten cent tour as we wandered through. I grew up in the Village and worked in Downtown, so I'm familiar with the landmarks but not so much the history. We didn't really walk into the more popular areas either because they were too popular. Ironic!
Still, got to see how the city was holding up and she saw enough of SoHo to know she didn't want any of it and then made our way to Hudson Yard and then eventually the ferry where we got a nice skyline.
We spent the last two weeks sorting out a dishwasher problem that involved me learning how to pull out a dishwasher and set one up all for something that was either fixed with a factory reset or a handful of citric acid that I keep in the house because I was going to make gummies with them years ago. Then it became a new problem when Michelle found a roach and we went to the hardware store a few times to get plugs for holes in cabinets (WHY DO THEY HAVE THESE HOLES???) followed by figuring out how to seal as many holes as possible around the dishwasher which only made me realize how badly the dishwasher was installed. For example: there is no floor for the dishwasher but they decided to prop it on two wobbly planks! They added these metal seals around the pipes and they basically smashed them into the pipe for some reason. Duct taped all of that and sealed those drawer holes as well.
I settled on my own crappy jury rig and basically tried to make something like a gasket around the dishwasher using a tarp that we cut around and lots and lots of glue and epoxy. It's mostly sealed except for the bottom now which I am going crazy trying to troubleshoot.
I did find another hole against the molding along the way though so caulked that breach up and hopefully that will be the original source of the problem. Today I will try another tarp covering and see if I can find a way to seal it.
So before all this, we went to the Bronx Zoo again and it was neat, outside of the giant roach that we saw in JungleWorld. I know, it's the Bronx, it shouldn't be that shocking.
We're going to try to get to Vermont this weekend to grab some stuff and maybe leaf peep a bit. Michelle's mom is stuck in court because of a lawsuit that sounds like something out of a reality show but to be honest that one jury duty I did really colored my opinion of how petty it all feels. Anyway, it's also an ish because she's scheduled to go to Portugal by the end of the week. The plaintiff also lives in GA now and wants to finish the trial by the end of the week. I don't think anyone's going to get what they want, but again this all feels petty.
More photos to come once I feel like I have the free time.
