Snow Day

It's cold out.

Snow reports said 5 inches and it looks like it would be... if it didn't melt. Offices are closed, thank goodness; learned enough from that Vermont trip to see what all-weathers on snow look like and you do not want and of it.

Michelle bought some melt and a shovel. I don't think we'll need it but I guess the freeze tonight will really make the determination of that.

Visited the NY Aquarium this weekend and wasn't as impressed. Not to say it's bad, just that the Bronx Zoo had so much more to it in comparison. I think I also just love seeing a place that has so much to see and old architecture to boot.

The boardwalk was nice at least; largest one I've walked and I honestly shouldn't be surprised at that. What I will be surprised about though is how there's nothing open off-season, even the restaurants. Between families walking their kids/dogs, old folks hanging out and blasting music, and some guy yelling every slur possible at an amusement park gate to open up, it felt like an experience. An experience that I know I will never see in the summer because the traffic already felt a bit iffy here despite the cold.

But yeah, probably not coming back. Just too many people and the freshwater exhibits felt inadequate. I may also be a snob as I kept looking at all the beard algae that they should have figured out a way to clear out of their sump tanks.

I tried to take photos too. Failed at it for the most part. Fish are too fast, lens with good DOF too slow, etc. Not a lot of practice in the end. Kind of glad I didn't pay for the parking pass.

Interesting though was how there's a large cluster of chains like around this one block not far from Nathans. Ended up inadvertently walking into one of I think three buffet places and blew 200 on it out of tired plodding from hunger and the leg weights clamping me down hard.

One of my friends wants to hit the aquarium in Camden for the three day weekend, plans to stay here since he lives in the Bronx. "I just want to be away from it all" and mentioned how he wanted to check out sciencey things so I think that's part of the deal. Probably will order food as well since he's a foodie and a desi very aware that South Asian cuisine rules this neck of the Jerz.

Goddamn Markiplier keeps talking about lenses and now I'm stuck thinking about wanting something with an f-stop of 1 or whatever but I'm going to hold it off. I already spent 200 on Michelle because I secret-bought some lighting gear for her she shed and then she kept pushing for a keyboard. I have no idea what she planned for me beyond that she planned something, and thus far I have a gag toilet paper roll of a poop emoji saying how much she loves me. Appropriate choice for today as my meal of three noodle ramen is not loving me. Anyway, between that and the expense of a New York trip, I can't think of greedy shit like a 2k Zeiss lens, especially if I'm not making money taking photos.

Gaming
So Youtube has borked its algorithm again as I'm getting a lot of different things I don't want to see. However, between all this there are some gems I found including a random playtest of "good or bad" indy titles. One was "Later Alligator" which I never knew about but is so damn good since this feels like it should have been a Cartoon Network show. Also ended up getting a suggestion for "A Highland Song" and now that's all I play on the Switch these days as I try to figure out every peak and solve every map, 100 percenting this not for the love of the arbitrary as much as to see what kind of fun characters I can meet along the way.

That's all for now. Hope everyone's keeping warm.
