This time it centered on a man that bought an old home and found a robot inside. Turning it on, it turned out the machine was a servant to the past occupant. It lived decades with the old owner and learned many skills and evolved to be empathetic through the owner who kind of saw to it like their child (suggested it was a bit of an empty nest syndrome). When the old owner died, the machine had nothing to turn to but kept working in the manor keeping things tidy until it ran low on power and, instead of powering itself, decided to quietly "pass away" in the attic.
As the man brought him home and archived their stories, he is endeared to the old tales and the robot's desire to console where needed and he becomes a friend.
Eventually the machine starts to stutter a bit and after a diagnostic it turns out one of the inner circuits is breaking down. Being decades old, replacement parts are impossible to find. The machine continues to deteriorate, exhibiting signs that resemble dementia. While he tries to find a way to help his companion, the machine notes to him that it is fitting to go like this.
It ends the same way it did for the robot, standing in a field in the rain.
