Mar. 2nd, 2020 10:17 amI've picked up a rhythm with Twitter, but it's coming with its own addiction cycle and that's annoying me. I think I'm picking up the compulsive need to check. To top it off, Michelle's been sick. I think I'm still hitting the recovery curve as well, but my immune system has been holding up for the most part, to Michelle's envy.
We've been seeing bills for Michelle's breast exam and surgery. On the bright side, we hit the bill cap where all future medical bills are paid for. Not-so-bright side? It takes 3k to get there. This whole up and down cycle, man. Estimating other costs, we realized it was 1.4k just for the examination which is done annually. People pay this much annually?
The talk of coronavirus made us want to stay home (I know we're going to be okay for at least a week) and relax and Michelle realized that it's been nice just being home for once and hanging out. I feel like we have plenty to do there, true, but we just never have the time between working and getting errands done. I can only imagine what it'll be like once kids fit into the equation. I played Farcry 5 and got pissed off repeatedly at this storyline about getting hunted which was bullshit. I really could use another whole week off.
On the bright side, the one lady
padhopper was catering to for disease concerns is definitely getting her due these days, hah!
I keep wondering between the pandemic, an abrasive election, a breaking down of gigantic established government projects, corporate interests taking precedence over people, and the value of potable water slowly rising day by day; which postapocalyptic scenario are we gunning to see make it to the end? In the meantime, I'm teaching myself to try to be more hygienic. The fingers away from the mouth thing are especially frustrating.
Anyway, doom and gloom aside, we visited Canada last week. I deleted Twitter and Facebook from my phone because I was not sure how intense CBP is. Turns out: not very if you're not politically active. Whew. We ate dim sum and stayed at a nice hotel room for like 100 bucks a night. A rarity, to say the least!
Work has been continuing to go downhill and no one wants to talk about it, but some folks are snapping. Others are actively looking for a new job and aren't afraid to admit it. I think most of us are just plain worn out. Michelle told me that a lot of people here actually work more than one job and I believe it. Which makes me wonder how the hell do people afford some of these new developments in Burlington?
I should post more often. Sorry. Oh! A few more things:
-I did some voicework and really enjoyed it, apparently the people I did it for did too
-My gaming group has some weird relationship dynamics that are a mess and all i'm doing is just playing safe space with some of them. And between that, I am reminded of the cycle of poverty some of them face. Sigh, I hate being reminded that I'm actually one of the better off considering how I'm really not that much better off.
-Super Tuesday tomorrow! Most of the candidates are pretty obvious (outside of the presidency), and I got to figure out the details I needed as I wrote this up. Overall, the DNC end has a pretty decent pool that I would be 3 out of 4 happy with winning. Do you know how rare that sounds to me these days? I honestly should read more into state level stuff but the comment sections for these things are endless trollathons since the local papers are full of Trumpets with nothing better to do.
And that's it for me. I'll remind myself to post more. I think.

Date: 2020-03-07 02:22 am (UTC)Good luck with getting the medical bills paid for. 1.4k for an examination seems very unreasonable; I'm sorry you guys are dealing with that.
Congrats on the voice work!
