This weekend was miserable, but at least I finished up the garden in the morning in the plodding gloom of a wet gray day. I think I gave myself rub burn, but damaging the skin on my hands seems to be nothing new these days, in my opinion.
In the morning, Michelle wanted to take a break from her week and relax, so we did that by sleeping in. Ever get up at a time just because you feel like you spent too much time in bed even though you still feel tired? That was me and 10am is my cutoff point, so off to the garden I went.
Michelle apparently got up shortly afterwards. We relaxed; Thursday had me clean most of the house, so there wasn't much to do anyway. This time the groceries of the day included some pork (I ground up an old frozen loaf for bread crumbs so was in the mood for cutlets), some rice noodles, chicken to keep up with my protein intake.
Cooking
Toast some cashews with some raw peanuts, pumpkin seeds, then throw them in a food processor. Do the same with some cumin, fennel seeds, peppercorns, chilis, and a star anise. Throw that in the processor too. Throw in few spoonfuls of chicken base powder and a generous amount of the black chocolate ice cream, mix.
Result is a really savory faux "mole" mix. Threw it in a bag with several chicken breasts and sous vided that for half a day. Saved a chicken breast and used that for chicken curry.
Scallopini cut is awesome by the way. I made some great breaded cutlets out of it.
Miscellaneous
Stickers came in for the Lego project. I need to remind myself to bring the sheet to work so I can use a page cutter. The quality of the resolution is really good, like store quality. I'll look forward to seeing how it looks when applied to the stadium.
I need to figure out an ingredient list for things to bring to her family for Thanksgiving. Michelle thinks casserole would be good, so I'll try for that. I did see some recipe for a coconut jelly thing, but I'm tempted to save that for Christmas. Maybe creme brulee again? Michelle thinks that would be great too.
I'm tempted for something snack-size too. Focaccia? Maybe a chowder. I looked up recipes and one type is a potato and leek, so maybe that?
I'm probably thinking of too much food.

Date: 2018-11-07 05:07 pm (UTC)In all honesty, there's some really good bakeries here that make some great ciabatta, but they only do it during the weekends; not so good for Thanksgiving.
Thanks, hoping likewise!

Date: 2018-11-07 04:55 pm (UTC)My Dad loved Clam Chowder. Every time we went for to the Mandarin he practically dove head first into the Clam Chowder. The past few years of his life, I got into making homemade soups. He asked me to make Clam Chowder, but I am allergic to shellfish and could never do that for him.
