Anyone ever have those nights when you can't get this song out of your head? It feels like you're living with a neighbor that can't even realize there's anyone else next door so turns up the stereo.

You know what's even stranger? What if it's a song you never heard before? Just this sound in your head that is playing and you know you've never heard this before so you try to think that maybe you should be writing this down, but since you can't, you end up trying to zone the music out.

I've had these abnormal earworms enter my head more and more these days. I can't even copy them since I can't read music, and it makes me wonder if I should since some of the sounds I hear in my head sound like something I'd like to have playing in my library.

One particular piece I bothered to try describing before I succumbed to sleep and it was this combination of an apocalyptic drum march sound in tandem with that kind of Primus jam-style guitaring and this twin crooning that I can best describe as coming from The Wrens. It was this rich soundscape that I wanted to make more from. Maybe I need to do this more often in case the day comes when I can finally start figuring out how to write music.

Work has been boring, I think I'm burning out. At least tomorrow will be me leaving early. Maybe I'll feel better afterwards.

It's nice being off games.

Cooking
So... to get around the whole diabetes problem, I've been limiting my junk food intake severely and the results are showing as my scrapes are healing much more evenly now. We're experimenting with a new way around using up 30 pounds of flour too as we tried making Ezekiel bread. Sort of.

I have 90% of the ingredients that are associated with the meal, but we missed a few like wheat germ and whole wheat flour. The type of flour we keep is a King Arthur "special" flour that is a premix of wheat and white flour already that is normally optimized for breadmaking. I made up for missing elements with flaxseed and bran. If I do it again, I'm probably going to up the ratio of beans and mix a variety of a few more, maybe garbanzo and some amaranth?

The most interesting thing about the experience is the "nuttiness" of the mix. I could swear I added no nuts to it and it's mostly wheat and legumes but there's this walnut chunkiness in it every so often.

Michelle was not impressed, but I'm good with this. I would like it to be heartier, and I would like to try again to see about making a new loaf that will have more stuff in it for a better texture range.

The most encouraging result so far is that my body is still relatively okay despite eating a slice or two every day. Michelle thinks that I look different too, I guess healthier? I suppose I'll see as it goes along.

I started to lean back to my original food recipes and made a thai curry a few days ago to reflect the cold weather and yesterday made some drunken noodles as I had a package of them that I purchased in bulk at the asian market because I want to have them when I want them (plus they freeze well). I chopped up most of the vegetables in the fridge and put them in both and Michelle was very pleased with the results. The only regret she has is that she misses having it with rice, but I think curry with quinoa, lentils, and wild rice works surprisingly well. I don't know, I've been a sucker for textures these days.

The best part is that this takes care of most of our food concerns for awhile, so the kitchen can stay clean for a little longer than usual. I'm personally happy that I didn't have to throw away any vegetables this time.

Speaking of which,

Gardening
The season is coming back, but it's not really *there* yet. I think the frost is going to take some time before I feel confident to plant, but this time now that I know how to plant beans, I'm going to try and build a gateway to grow the beans around this time in the hopes that it reduces choking the zucchini and tomatoes this time. I'll also try peppers since I have a bad feeling the climate these days is going to guarantee really nasty hot days to let them thrive while it kills me with some delicious ground-level ozone.

I started the seeds for everything except the beans. We got 6 8 foot poles, because I want to make sure I can walk across the gate. I might get some proper rope for it this time.

I weeded at least. The onions that were overwintered were a mixed bag. The big red bloom-type green onions had a 50% survival rate, while the smaller hardier onions basically tripled their yield.

Once the condo association figures out the whole fence situation, I'll plot out my cut of the land like some victor of the Great War carving up the Ottoman Empire.

Oh, I also should start seeding the korean sesame too and dumping the hanging basket. The hanging basket we have is garbage.
