But something I would listen to that would always brighten my day exclusively for brightening my day? Well there's this one little song done by Marc Shaiman. Unless you're big on composers, I don't think you'd really know him (I'm not even all too familiar with him), but I will admit this: he has one song that I went out and bought the entire album for.
And it has to do with a young Christina Ricci.
I used this song to tell people to screw off every so often.
I feel like I should also mention have an archive of old anime music that I also bought specifically for this reason, although I have to also admit that outside of The Pillows, a lot of these EP/LPs never seems to be as good as the singles they push for animes. Still, some are just way too good to forget, like the opening of Himikoden (which oddly enough is released at the same time as Miike's Kikujiro no Natsu and shares a lot of familiarity in sound structure). Sharing this as an "honorable mention" because it really deserves some attention as this mix of sounds that have this orchestral landscape combined with a bit of the vocal reach of Kahimi Karie.
