One addendum

I forgot to note one thing that stuck out to me:

Podcast
I was listening to episode 40 of My Favorite Murder and they talked about that infamous Jenny Jones episode where a man was murdered for admitting he had a thing for a man back in Texas on that talk show. I remember growing up to this news and it was more interesting when they mentioned that this happened back in '95 I forget that this was little more than 20 years ago and yet it was still considered all right for people glorify homophobia. When things like this still seem so not that long ago, it's no wonder people think the country is changing for the worst for them when they think they're still living a time that doesn't look that different from those times.

I have to admit, a lot of progressive issues have come to a head as a result, and the fact that Caitlyn Jenner is a thing (a terrible, terrible, thing that in a way I'm glad has the same daddy issues as log cabin Repubs have with the GOP) says how much times have changed. Hell, another ten years back and interracial relationships weren't exactly embraced, either.

What times we live in, huh?

I mean... things have changed, but Caitlyn Jenner existing doesn't exactly make things suddenly easy for yr average trans woman. But it is good to thinking of the positive changes sometimes. Chelsea Manning is free, for example! That makes me happy.

Oh no, apologies if that was what I suggested my take was!

If anything, I think the fact that Caitlyn could do what she likes so openly without being physically assaulted for it is a sign of how much things have changed in those twenty-odd years since, so I can see how places where change occurs so much more slowly is so startled by all of this. She is an example however that the LGBTQIA community is a diverse one if they're capable of tolerating her into their folds (even then, I imagine she is not so much accepted any more than anyone's racist uncle is at Thanksgiving, but again; we have LCRs and the like as well).

I think Chelsea is a much better example of trans folks we should be praising, but I know we won't because she's poor among other things--but mostly because she's poor.

I gotta say seeing Chelsea thriving on instagram lights up my life. I hope she gets the support and celebration she deserves.

Caitlyn Jenner is so confusing to me. Is it because she is confused herself? From what I understand ... she identifies as female, but doesn't want to get rid of the biological boy bits ... is attracted to females like always, but doesn't consider herself a lesbian. I'm soooo confused!! By her!

I know she doesn't represent the majority, but she reminds me a lot like a more famous Chris Chandler (whom I've told has also come out as trans as well). I don't really know the more intimates about her life either, but her interests in politics at least suggests to me that she's more about herself than anything else.

I think she may be trying to Log Cabin the community given her own views, which seems difficult since LCRs are the unspoken community of the right-wing caucus.
