Thanks folks! Thanks to you, I've been finding more and more of an excuse to use my blog to actually... blog! It's been relieving having someone to write to as well as read, and I honestly haven't felt this liberated to write my mind away like this in awhile.
I'm hoping to at least keep this consistency just so I can start looking away from Facebook, and it has been showing some effect, albeit some moments are less convincing than others. Keeping updated in political and scientific knowledge does that.
But that's not really why I'm here. I mean, I can see it is for some of you folks here and I'm not against it; if anything, I feel like this is more of a test for myself to see if I can keep myself from it. Or, to bring back a lovable chestnut, I don't want my worlds to collide!

Anyway, today I met with the condo's committee for the first time. It was actually pretty enlightening, to meet a group of folks that I very rarely am familiar with and yet they discussed issues that I was very familiar with. For starters, there was the matter of the overgrown garden that looked like a leftover prop from Great Expectations, the people who drive in too quickly and why they're adding speed bumps, the laundry room and consideration for a change machine, etc.
To be honest, I was mostly glad that we weren't even the worst tenants in this community. Apparently, quite a few parents bought these units for these kids (my own included), so I guess they're keeping it as an investment of sorts? Regardless, I learned quite a bit.
Made a leftover pizza quiche. Yes, they're a thing, and they're surprisingly good once you realize why. I'm a sucker for retooling and playing around with recipes and salvaging the most out of leftovers whenever possible and despite my misgivings about the idea, after making it I realized it really worked out well despite how it made me feel like an honorary Duggar (albeit, one of dem Frenchy type ones).
Also made some corned beef hash because Michelle can't handle corned beef any other way and there's been a sale of it around here. Still got a ton of those lo mein noodles that Chinese restaurants use. I cracked into the balsamic jarred carrots and they're all right; not overcooked, thankfully, but it makes me wish I had a proper chopper for these things instead of using baby carrots which lack the surface area to really steep the liquid in. I swear, the more I read back some of the things I obsess over with food, I'd think I was keeping stock in a restaurant. I may be a terrible food hoarder. Or a prepper.
Tomorrow is podcast day where I continue screaming boisterously like a manchild to some Avatar-themed world I roleplay and I honestly am looking forward to it. I took a tentative listen to the recording and I actually liked it. Personally, I'm not a fan of my subwoofer-blasting voice, but when it comes to portraying a titanic goon that punches anything he sees, I find a tremendous level of catharsis out of it.
Since it sounds like I'm shilling, let me do it properly! https://burneverythinggaming.com/2017/04/23/avatar-bbtw-ep-1-festive-folly-pt-1/
Michelle's birthday is in a few days and I already revealed my hand since she ordered a gift I spent my card on blatantly since she liked it, so it's a shirt and some sneakers. My card hasn't been charged for the Switch yet, but the ETA for shipping for it is late May. That'll be the extra surprise to the actual surprise!
Michelle's finished watching Harlots, so I better wrap this up lest she see. Thanks for letting me read up on your lives!

Date: 2017-05-11 03:59 pm (UTC)Pizza quiche sounds amazing … don’t care what anyone else says :P
LOL @ Terrible food hoarder. After reading ya a few days, I may have to agree, but I don’t think it’s a terrible thing. I think more people SHOULD be food hoarders. I enjoy how excited people get over their hobbies … you and another friend I added (hers about writing), are constantly inspiring me to get excited about my own projects!
Switch is an awesome surprise! I am sure she will love it :P Its been getting great reviews.

Date: 2017-05-11 05:02 pm (UTC)The food hoarding has to do with my need to get a good deal. I seem to come from a prestigious line of bargain hunters, so if I see something in the supermarket that looks like it can be used for a decent meal in the indeterminate future, I'll end up getting it. It's ridiculous, I know, but I like to make sure Michelle gets some variety (especially since a few years back she was getting sick of eating nothing but chowder, casserole, and salads).
In all honesty, I would have rather gotten this thing over eBay, but it's such a hot item that I'm not sure if it's worth the sniping anyway. A friend of mine was keeping an eye out for a deal on the console so made me aware of this one, just have to deal with me giving it to her a few weeks after her birthday. She knows I like surprising her, so I don't think she'll be that upset if I give this to her a few weeks after the fact. We shall see! Or maybe I'll just give up and go price sniping on eBay, who knows. I mean, I guess I should know, but yeah.
