Working on a CD for some kid that asked me to for his birthday. ...two weeks ago. Ouch. Did I mention that I can get severely absent-minded? This request was because of some CD I made for someone else of really odd music I found during my travails for something interesting/comedic to either fanimutate or for the sake of listening. I kind of failed here since I didn't find much weird new material, so I filled it with stuff that I liked and wanted to impose since I'm also the only person here that likes to stay far, far away from the radio unless it's WFMU.

I've got 6 more days until emusic refreshes and I go on yet another binge. Heavy food and sleeping less than the amount I normally go for is catching up to me.

Have you ever seen/heard The Trachtenburg Family Slideshow Players (http://www.slideshowplayers.com/)? I think they definitely fall under comedic/interesting, plus they play a lot in the NYC area. They were supposed to play Minneapolis a year ago, but they cancelled, so I haven't had a chance to catch them live yet.

Oh wait, yes, I saw one of their music videos on New York Noise on a trip to Japan! It was so quirky that I wasn't sure how to take it.

I'm a fan of pretty much everything bad, so I dig the hokey, sometimes-off-key delivery. I also like that they involve their kid; it's cute. I'm sure she's super-smart because she spends most of her time playing gigs and hanging out with adults.

Ha ha, I hear you there. It's the only way I could ever justify listening to things like Monkey Power Trio. Then there's some groups that I know I must mention at least once just because they have a name like "The Mr. T Experience." I'm surprised no one ever called their group "The Kill-Bot Factory." Not only is it a great Simpsons episode, but I think it would make for a kickass band name.

Nell Carter powers!! :O
