If you went to see Wall-E or any other family film lately, then chances are you’ve seen the latest abuse of tiny dogs put on to the big screen called, “Beverly Hills Chihuahua”. The entire premise leaves me confused since I was stuck waiting for a movie to start and they do a preview discussion of the film. Okay, you know that the movie’s about some sort of dog heroes, right?
WRONG
The film’s a typical working guy/rich gal romance. The preview remarks on how they will not be adorned in colorful adornments, but have them dancing and singing in headdresses and the love interest is in a full Paris Hilton-inspired getup. Why does none of this make sense? WHO AM I AND WHAT AM I DOING HERE?
I think Rifftrax put the concensus for most people out there when they put this up:
Honestly, I know it’s a kid’s movie, but if you’re a parent, which would you rather see: a movie from a well-accomplished animation studio about something deeper than a silly kid’s theme, or a movie following traditional avenues with a species of dog that has seen enough public maltreatment from a celebrity whore you never want your kids to associate with?

Okay, I gave in and used a flash. I also used the Sigma since it's pretty slow to begin with. The combination worked like a charm. The lighting's unnatural and annoys me, but everything else about it is there, from the emerald color to the strange bright speckled yellow.
Whilst modding a lens, I was encountering an issue with the aperture blades. Some of them were opening/closing randomly. Bad sign. Okay, pulled out the unit, undid the screws and… a number of blades promptly fell out. Really bad sign! I spent the entire night pulling out wafer-thing blades and connecting them into the housing.
Whilst doing this, I understood a bit more about how simple a lens housing really can be. Simpler is better, they like to say, since it prevents potential muckups, but it really amazes me how simple a lens can be in order to do some of the things it does. Hell, it wouldn’t even be that hard for me to overhaul a lens entirely! Don’t quote me on that for the auto-focusing components, however.
Setting up the aperture blades, by the way, is a time-consuming process that took me several hours of setting, failure, and trying again. This is not something I would like to do for a living. The setup isn’t hard, per say, but it’s very delicate work. I’m just glad I didn’t break out into a sweat while I was doing it or else I would give up. Okay, forget that, I do wish I broke into a sweat.
