I'm of the mind that Halloween should be a second Mardi Gras at this point: make it longer and treat it like Fat Tuesday so that everyone can get some time away from the polls before we return to the drudgery of feeling/making people feel bad again.

Since I doubt that'll ever happen though? I'll continue to eat guilt like some ground crawling sin eater and try to avoid looking at too much of it while shitposting because it's going to be at least a week of people going "start/stop/delayed turn/parallel park the steal" and all sorts of terrorisms in all but name.

In other, more important news (YES IT'S A JOKE): Michelle bought a Sony Alpha One. Basically the top end camera body you can possibly get.

Michelle said she wanted to get back into photography before the trip and, being the person who bought a 4090 for her case, never wants to leave anything halfassed, so went for something that will last as long as possible. I'm jealous (though tbf she also said I could use it whenever but her body seriously makes me want to upgrade just so I can get a stronger AF alone). She still needs a lens so in the meantime I gave her my 24mm CZ glass to play with. Also found a 50mm SMC Tak (90 bucks!) and I'm running with that at the moment though I also swapped into a Minolta 35. Anyway, we discussed her needs and I think she's settling on a 2.8 standard zoom.

One annoyance that none of you will understand because you are not camera dweebs like me: my alpha adapters are not supported on the latest models of cameras meaning AF is not working on screw drive lenses. Goddamn Sony planned obsolescence. I guess that's one way to ensure no one keeps their old glass but at the same time that's such a shitty thing to do.

In order to get the camera, we took a trip to Philly, so it was a trip to the Old part. Very scenic, cramped: cars hate this area and I am kind of glad they do but also feels bad if you're a bus driver here.

A lot of these cities I would have probably been scared of in my conservative teens are pretty cleaned up and cool now. I like it. It's still the same Philly though where I walk by a store curious only to see it's been out of business for years, but it's still cool! Saw the Revolutionary War museum which surprised me by having an even-handed account of the Tory side as well as being very well set up. I also looked up the museum's history and realized there was a lot of drama involved that lead to the museum being built (long story short, a lot of the pieces came from Valley Forge).

I have a card that is full of photos that I need to check. That'll come in time.

I realized I probably should think of investing towards a macro and am stuck between a Voigtlander or one of these new Laowas that I've never heard of but a lot of people are saying are really good. Capitalism!

Hopefully a photo post to come soon, just need to also give myself time to do that. Game night tonight as well in honor of... all this.

Hope your time at the polls is nice and quick because I'm hearing a lot of stories about people waiting their butts off.
