(no subject)

Hitting my limit on Counter Social. Fewer people interact, and I think my attempts to be funny or even talk about left views made people distance themselves from me. There's like this cult-like worship of the founder of the server and the way he's coddled by his closest associates who also love to name and shame people who speak against the site seriously creeps me out. Like are you over it or are you in need of being insanely petty about it?

Add to that the misinformation that is coming from big centrists that no one wants to correct (I spent the other day correcting one of them when they said the GOP repealed Glass-Steagall which, yes, they wanted, but Bill Clinton made its repeal part of his legacy!!) and I think I've had enough.

I know an echo chamber when I see one and I'm too stubborn and been too deep in church and channel awesome and other cult of personality shit to know I don't want to come back to more of that.

There's a few people there I genuinely like and I wanted to try to help keep people in there that were doing things I was laterally interested in, but it's a slim silver lining for a very annoying and contradictory group. Sigh. I'll probably stick to Twitter with the rest of the left there and just continue to point and laugh at the bullshitter that runs the site. It's not like there's anyone there that really has that level of humor there and given how people there have complained about not wanting to bring those values there, I don't think it'll ever be nurtured either so will likely circle into the equivalent of a centrist Facebook group for people's parents.

I'll just tag along and quietly unsub the pro account and then see about deleting the rest.

In truth? I probably should spend less time on social media anyway.
