Dec. 5th, 2021 12:20 pmTyping this from Beaumont, CA which is desert-like and unlike everything the woods and swamps I see on the East coast so feels strangely exotic.
Had a pleasant trip--everything they say about first class is to be believed because the dreamliner? Fantastic. Seat turned into a bed. Breakfast on real dishes with metal cutlery. All that and the flight was quick and painless with no delays nor taxiing nor whatever the hell else you deal with in terms of flying.
I am intimately aware that the West Coast is so laden with fast food that they ran McDonald's out, competition-wise. So far had Raising Caine's and In-n-Out. First one is ehh (you guys deserve more Popeye's). Second one is decent, price-wise is a steal and go to if price is a concern, but if you can afford it Shake Shack is a better burger overall imo.
Had to visit the Desert Hills outlets for a dress shirt. Surprisingly nice, lines suck though. I'm not waiting in line for Coach nor Burberry that's dumb.
Oh, I saw a desert hare too! I love them, they're even more scared than the Eastern Cottontails and their long features def seem more like how they inspired Bugs Bunny. They apparently love to visit the irrigated lawn of this hotel I'm staying at during the morning for obvious reasons. I have a feeling folks hunt them or something because I can't explain why they're so skittish otherwise (plus not any roadkill in sight despite the car culture).
Wedding today, just getting my stuff sorted. 4am meeting tomorrow because EST + daylight savings just makes everything worse. Apparently things got worse and one of the other supervisors was out on my day of the trip.
Otherwise it's mostly me doing exercises and prepping for work (I brought 7 pounds of weights with me because I'm weird).
By the way, everyone talks about how awful driving is in CA and I got to say it's bullshit. The roads are wide and people are polite. In comparison NJ drivers will cut you off and give you the finger for not letting them do it quicker. For roads that are the only way to get anywhere, CA driving even through LA isn't as bad as people say.
