I'm listening to Pork Fried Dice and it sounds so much like the podcast I'm in that it feels weird.

It also kept giving me ideas for some RP options for D&D, so I'm writing them out since they've been swimming in my head while I've been working.

I took Monday and Wednesday off. So far Monday has been less "time off" and more "hey, here's a thing we should be doing because that would be responsible."

Saturday was getting supplies for the house. I had a severe food jonesing, but for the most part it was getting our license stuff for the car figured out, some dishwashing, making smoothies out of old bananas, and replenishing our canning ingredients. This week's craziest plurge was buying bulk balsamic vinegar while not thinking about how much of it I was getting. I filled up a quart container and at 17/pound, I left the store with a 45 dollars worth of vinegar. Not even joking, the only other things I got was a dollar's worth of fennel and a dollar's worth of yellow mustard seeds. We brought back a loaf of chile cheese ciabatta and I made open sandwiches with them, some spreadable chevre, basil, cucumber, and some cured meats.

Sunday got me a haircut. Michelle enjoys petting my hair after these times since it's so soft. I appear to be having dandruff problems. Then we got home and we went to the garden. This week's yield was pretty good, it lead to 6 jars this time and a handful of the Orient Wonders that I picked mostly because I needed to get them. Now at home, I fried up some edamame, the last quarter of a pumpkin squash, a sweet onion, a pound of ground pork, the last of a few slices of baloney, and most of the jar of some fresh kimchi to make a nice fried rice. It was impressive to get a good view of all those jars.

We were gifted another zucchini, which seems appropriate because I had to take one of the squash from a dying plant. I don't think it survived.

I'm debating if someone is walking through my trellis or not because the squash looks trampled, but I don't want to point fingers. I'd like to work on it next year too, Michelle thinks it grew out really nicely and I can definitely think of a couple of things to do to make it grow out even better and look like a proper grapevine tunnel.

I finally, for the first time in a long time, cracked into my memory card to look for anything usable. How long ago has it been since I looked through them, you may wonder? TO put it in perspective, the first photos I found were from April when we took a trip through New Hampshire's scenic highway. There was snow.

I'd love to show some of them, but I honestly left them on the main computer. I'll upload them on Smugmug and see about making some posts tomorrow.

Anyway, today has me waking up at noon after finally finishing Westworld (seriously, what the hell is everything?) and Michelle was doing bills. I got the dishwasher prepped, labeled some dilly beans for future use, then we went to the car to do some preventative maintenance.

Some of the seat bolts were starting to rust, so we used some eyeliner to coat the bolts to prevent oxidation. Then some polish for the scratches on the car. I found some rust pocks on the back door, pinhole sized but potentially annoying as the weather gets worse again. Michelle thinks it means we need more rustproofing trips to the car wash. I'd honestly like something more preventative.

Health
I lost three pounds on average and am now really close to my weight in Boston. To celebrate, I've been wearing some of my old pants all this weekend without any problem despite my gluttonous ways.

I've punched my stomach every so often as hard as possible to see if I can take it. So far I've been taking it really well. At the least, I think I won't get any rib bones broken if someone gives me CPR.

My back is also sore as hell and I don't know if I'm sleeping wrong or if it's something else. The back pain was so bad on Saturday that I couldn't even sneeze without feeling feedback from inhaling my lungs too large and triggering something out of my spine.

I'm sure I swallowed enough ibuprofin to make my poop a prescription strength remedy just to get over the pain.

Yeah, that's gross, but seriously: it was bad.

Miscellaneous

Did I show off this beauty? I got it from paleoplushies along with a kulhi loach.

Before I left for my time off, I put them around a candy jar and cut out some post it notes into word bubbles that basically had them saying if they liked the particular loach they were, then they should have a candy.

I've also been left in charge of trivia these days and people have been enjoying the Friday mailers. I like the creative flex room it's been giving me, so it's been nice. Michelle feels proud about it, but I honestly just do it because it's a nice mental break from work in the office and the Duck Soup reenactment I have to deal with every time I read the news.

I've become sillier these days regardless. Not here of course, since you folks are some of the few I can be serious with anonymously about life. Reality sure is sad all right (no offense).

Budgeting
Anyway, spent so much money this week, so hoping that I can handle working all this week after hours. Tonight was pretty easygoing for me, so I think it might be good as long as I make sure I get sleep properly.

Michelle kept being thankful for the second job as well: we couldn't afford the premium model while paying off our credit cards otherwise. I think we're still a little off our timelines, but I know we can do it. I'm just glad that I already had December figured out as a slack month.

I'm going to see if I can squeeze a little more money for this month's contribution to make up for it all the same, the PayPal payments has been making me concerned, especially since I haven't gotten most of the Christmas stuff figured out.
