It's nice to see that NOT all news involving Africa is bad. While the article skirts a bit on details of finding better methods of life for these people, it still is good to know that there is research being done. And, of course, the funding issues that I would expect to see inherent in anything related with Africa.

When I think about it, what is everyone's obsession with not supporting the country? Okay, we have celebrities buy out babies from there and there was the 80's where they wanted to make an Aid for everything, but it seems that without the celebrities, we hear nothing about political goodwill within that continent. We never hear about agendas being made to stop the terror of warlords, or the mediations of conflict, or anything other than an "it's a bad place" sort of attitude.

In other news, there's another article on old age. I never realized hydras were immortal. Can humans be bred for longer life? If, according to the article, it holds true, then I guess the thin really will be the long-lasting inheritors of the human domain. You know, if they don't die from eating disorders or heroine addictions. After reading some of the morbid details of [livejournal.com profile] morty_baby's latest entry, though, I would be far to believe that there is such thing as a killswitch in humans.

-but it's definitely a place where they play constant music that you don't really care for repeatedly everyday for 24 hours.

God damn it, what is LiteFM's addiction to Grease?! Play "Rent," play "Chess," play "Jesus Christ Superstar," for crying out loud; enough of this musical!

Things that make Grease bad:

-The fact that it's so well-mentioned that it feels almost overhyped.
-It has John Travolta. Yes, it's before he became a scientologist and I liked "A Civil Action," but repeat after me: IT HAS JOHN TRAVOLTA IN IT.
-Nerd prejudice was still big back then, which makes me feel I must remark to the People for the Ethical Treatment Towards Introverted Nerds (PETTIN).
-I still don't get it. So the popular preppy chick becomes the popular biker chick? This is cool HOW?! This makes sense HOW?!
-The nausea I get thinking of people going YourtheonethatIwant followed by hooting like owls. This I consider as poorly-written as LFO's Summer Girls, which has such great lyrics as, "Billy Shakespeare wrote a whole lot of sonnets."
-Did I mention how much it perpetuates everything that was lovingly mocked in "Freaks and Geeks"?

I wouldn't care as much if it was one song, but I keep hearing this and the Grease theme song, which is blah. I'd rather hear "Hair." I guess "Black boys" wouldn't be PC enough for this bland musical palate.
