Yes, the NY Transit strike happened. Yes, I work at 77-82nd street, and yes, NJ Transit only drops off at 34th. Yes, I walked. I woke up 30 minutes early ,stood in a crowded train that came 10 minutes late, and I walked like I was Sweating the Oldies with Richard Simmons.

For those of you unfamiliar with this interesting fellow.

As you can imagine, if you had the floating disembodied face of Richard Simmons on your mind as you walked, then you would be moving FAST. Fastly away from the floating disembodied head of the aerobic powerhouse giant I did wend, past various people that also attempted to get to work on time without a subway or a bus.

Anyway, Central Park doesn't look that nice at this time of year. And I feel like I now have buns of steel. And all my supervisors are not here yet and probably will not until the afternoon. I'm tempted to do the Church Police sketch while I wait, but I probably have some print work to do.

I also binged yesterday but didn't really gain much in the way of weight. Maybe my metabolism is catching up with me for once?

I went to the old Rutgers Library to clean up the fish tank. Loads of nitrates helped breed a new race of wisteria that invaded the tank, turning it into a jungle, including a very large and beautiful centerpiece that I had to weigh down with pebbles just to keep from floating off (rooting it was impossible). Also, ramshorns, but considering how much crap was in there since my last changing, I decided to let them live so they can eat most of the leftover gunk that must be left from overfeeding. At least, until they overpopulate the tank and I have to get some sort of invertebrate killing agent or donate a temporary loach.

It still amazes me how huge the thing is
The photo was done on a phone cam, so... there you go.

They didn't think it looked that great. I guess I can't blame them since the wisteria looks fairly pale, though I can't say whether it's because of malnourishment or not (it's a pale green, not a whitish color with faint green). Still though, it's amazing how verdant the tank looks now, especially with a plant that's large enough to hide the angels. I also put in a small patch of java moss that now has begun to carpet the corner of the tank and fringed the edges where I planted them.

Most of the top wisteria I took for the sake of more lighting. Maybe I'll see if there's an LFS that will want them. They make for excellent shade for more cowardly fish.

Strike still going on. The strikers are getting fined 100 million per day. I still feel bad for them though, especially knowing that the NY Metro is making loads of revenue off their property. And, on a bright note I probably now have buns of titanium. Still, with that said, I saw the most amazing thing.

Above Penn Station was a helicopter. At first, I didn't understand its purpose. Then I noticed a line that travelled along Madison Square Garden (right above Penn Station). I thought there was a concert, right? Then I stepped to the entrance OF Penn Station and found this huge massive bubble of people that were standing there trying to go downstairs, at least a thousand people were gathered around the station, and I almost thought it was because of a bomb scare in the station. Police officers, construction workers, everything, were there keeping guard and when I came around, I heard a voice on a mike that was trying to get people's attention. It didn't really work. Finally, someone else took the amp and told us the entrance was closed. In fact, two entrances were closed. A massive "aww" could be heard in reaction to that, like something out of a live studio audience. We walked around to yet another entrance, and stood around the NJ Transit terminal, where it was damn sparse; usually the waiting area is 2-3 dozen people even on a normal day. Today, there were half a dozen.

Now if only I didn't leave my phone at home. If I didn't, then I could have shared to you some of the things I saw. If the strike continues tomorrow, then expect photos. At least, of where I walked in Central Park.
