I think of good comedy as punching up, not punching down. That's certainly possible in conservative traditions. I think of Little Mosque on the Prairie as a conservative comedy - it values faith, membership in a community and tradition. But I don't know if the Republican Party membership would consider it "Conservative".

This ties into your point as well - being a Muslim in rural Canada is being defined by the ways you're unorthodox. So you can be both traditional and non conforming.
