Hey, I think it's great that you did this for someone. Most people wouldn't. Working with homeless people, I can certainly say I can understand the skeptism. On the other hand, why be surprised that someone with nothing would attempt to gain something, with whatever method they use, to add to their meager belongings in some way, whether it be a banana, a quarter, or enough money to buy a drink? I think it's wonderful you got him a hot meal, and I believe it's wonderful he accepted without being nasty to you, and he had the grace to shake your hand and thank you. I hope that with all the other thoughts you were having, that one was that you feel pretty good about yourself for doing this for someone.
