All right, I give up!

I'm kind of insulted. Some of the albums I listen to weren't on that list, including the obscure Allison Macleod and Pell Mell's Interstate, which was probably their best album in my opinion. I'd make an indy poke, but indy jokes are only funny if people who actually know how to say it are the ones that say it.

And I don't care what is said, but I have to admit this: whoever Vanessa Carlton's drummer is a goddamn legend that adds to an already alluring songwriting.

Your argument loses on grounds of having Guns n' Roses in it, though you will be redeemed for Weezer and the holy Saint Yankovic.

APPETITE IS A GREAT ALBUM

I just put more on. It's tempting to just put all weird al. he's that good.

I concur (to the latter).

I probably should as well. I've been listening to too much Aquabats to not acknowledge them.

You have the Pi soundtrack. You are now officially Uber Cool Dude of the Day (UCDotD).

I applaud you, sir!

I normally don't go for soundtracks unless they're orchestral, but it's hard to put down something with Orbital and Aphex Twin in it.

reminds me of sam and max, but they would never be so crude.
not because it's against their nature, just the audience it's geared towards. children of america, you may very well be the future, but you have this day destroyed somthing great.

a generation weeps, and kindly reminds you that you're still kids and we can kick your ass.

Eeeee, Belinda Carlisle: a former Go-Go with totally cheesetastic '80s ballads! If that isn't a recipe for great music, I don't know what is.

Somehow, I knew you'd be into eclectic, diverse stuff, but I'm really surprised by your inclusion of the Prodigy. Very interesting.

[identity profile] zesty-pinto.livejournal.com 2006-04-15 02:17 am (UTC)(link)
I tried some of her other stuff. It's her voice that really makes her stand out. I can see it becoming an acquired taste, but I like it. "Heaven is a Place on Earth" is still her best overall album in my opinion, though, though not for the trademark song but for "World Without You." That song makes me melt. -_-

I tend to keep music with me according to mood. I do a lot of walking in general, so the more valuable music tends to be the stuff that I can feel kinetic enough to keep running with. The Prodigy was a big group I listened to whenever I had to rush from campus to campus. I think the other big one was the soundtrack to an anime called "Initial D," which was full of driving music and had an odd ending video that included a guy with a bleached Sting hair and flower camouflage painted on him, rapping in engrish. Weird as hell, but some really good beats. I can't listen to new Prodigy, though, kind of like new REM and new U2.

[identity profile] amanjo.livejournal.com 2006-04-15 02:39 am (UTC)(link)
I agree on Belinda's voice. I can see where others wouldn't dig it, but I love that stuff. Bonnie Tyler is another balladeer of that decade that can really belt out the torch songs.

Now the Prodigy makes more sense. And the Engrish rap sounds very intriguing. Seeing people's album picks and discussing them is bringing many older bands to the fore that have crummy new albums.

[identity profile] zesty-pinto.livejournal.com 2006-04-15 02:51 am (UTC)(link)
YEah, though it's a shame that some of the albums I'm into are also not on that list. Like I said, I love Pell Mell. I think one of the songs in the "Interstate" album was used for "Six Feet Under"'s incidental theme from what I was told.

Burnside Project also is decent. I remember "Cue The Pulse To Begin" was used in "Queer As Folk." There's an oddity at how obscure some of the music in these shows really are but once you hear certain songs you'll realize that they're not as unknown as you originally thought, just potentially unmarketable in a global basis.

i refuse to do one of these.

Yes, stay away while you can! Before it consumes you too!

[identity profile] morganaus.livejournal.com 2006-04-15 06:59 am (UTC)(link)
Prodigy, huh? I had added Moby, Underworld, Timo Maas, Orbital, Chemical Brothers, Crystal Method, and BT before I deleted them all. I was going mad with choices.

you're all whores for attention

[identity profile] nathangentzen.livejournal.com 2006-04-15 11:49 am (UTC)(link)
which is fine.

but seeing as i've only actually bought one cd from a store in my life, my list would suck.

i'd rather just show you screen shots of my ipod playlists.

maybe later.

Yes, just what I want to think about in the morning: [livejournal.com profile] morganaus in a skimpy outfit. :o

Like I said before: people who purchase music think their artist deserves it. Although these days I buy an album's worth of mp3s more than albums these days instead. Emusic > good.

I'm sure we all wait with bated breath for that fateful day.

I was thinking of Orbital as well, but then I realized that most of them I could only listen to some of it but not all of it. The Pi soundtrack was the best compromise I could find.

As for Prodigy, well, as I explained with [livejournal.com profile] ilovekatamari, it's music that keeps me moving. I stopped listening to them after "Fat of The Land," but their older stuff like "Ruff in the Jungle" is great if you need to get a little extra energy out of your body.
