Guess who's back?

Okay, I did what I should have an took a hiatus from most of my online endeavors, including this one and promised that I would not screw around with it until summer classes were finished. Well, yesterday was it, so I'm back on the sauce!

There were many lessons learned from summer classes, oh yes.
1. I learned that summer campus buses come once every thirty minutes, and at night, they come once in a lifetime.
2. I learned that taking three courses a session is a good way to spend your life worn through.
3. I learned that psychology just isn't for me: I'm switching to english where I can imagine I'll make even less money once I attain my degree but at least will survive.
4. I learned that those little Altoid sour things can double for caffeine when you're falling dead.
5. I learned a lot of junk on Cognition and "Paradise Lost," but who the heck cares about that. Not most of my instructors, apparently.

So I made out of the abyss. I really hope I did because I'm actually really on the line here in terms of academics. Right now I think I have a 50/50 here, and I hate to gamble.

But enough of that garbage. I've got a few more ideas to write about in terms of literary work, so I'll try to cram as much of that into my life while I have the time (probably whilst screwing around with Morrowind).

On a side note, it's a good month to read the Aphelion.

Aww, thank you. I'll try and catch up on what's been happening in your world. :D

Welcome back! I was wondering where you'd been, too. We've missed our pinto-that-is-zesty.

Awww, you flatter me so. So for this, I must thank you. ;)

Heh, likewise :P

~grins~ English rocks my world. (Of course, I might be biased a bit.) Congrats on finishing summer courses alive and wandering back into the online world. And that's good to know about the Altoid Sours. Must remember this lovely little tip. :P

Thanks; still not sure if the gamble's a succesful one or not, but...

And yes, sour things with a spike of sugar can do wonders. Pain combined with energy... sort of like exercise (except that, you know, it's not).

Welcome back! Yay! Did you write something for Aphelion? I used to be friends with one of the guys who created it. We used to hang out together in a writing chan on dalnet. (Not the one were you and I met.)

*hugs*

Yup, for once I have something that's actually copyrighted! It's not a lot, but at least, it's extra credit. And that's pretty cool to hear that you know one of the guys; that webzine seems particularly above average compared to a fair number of the other ones I've seen.

Welcome back!! I was wondering if you were going to post again.

Re: #3. How right you are. English majors have fun getting the damn degree, but then we starve. LOL. Good luck, though. I'm always happy when another person chooses the English route. :D

[identity profile] zesty-pinto.livejournal.com 2004-09-01 07:32 pm (UTC)(link)
Thanks (er, I think)!

[identity profile] samunderani.livejournal.com 2004-08-22 06:50 pm (UTC)(link)
so you've switched to english? hummmmmm what do you plan to DO with yer major? any plans, or just a hope that something will come up? good luck, and yes. altoid sours rock =)

[identity profile] zesty-pinto.livejournal.com 2004-09-01 07:34 pm (UTC)(link)
To be honest, I have no idea. I know I want to write, but I know that some writers out there are not english majors, so...

I also know what I don't want to be: a teacher. I think there's enough of them out there, and after my experience in New York City where most of them obviously do the work for reasons outside of getting paid, I don't think I could handle it unless they really did allow the use of caning students or something.

[identity profile] samunderani.livejournal.com 2004-09-01 07:38 pm (UTC)(link)
there's no WAY there are enough teachers out there. not certified ones and not decent ones, anyway.

violent boy =P good luck with the writing.

p.s.....want a gmail account? i have four invites left with no idea who to give them to.

There aren't you're right about that, but I do think that they are one of the more underappreciated jobs out there. The pay is (usually) lousy, and you have to play crowd control as much as instructor. Considering my intreverted nature, it's not something I see myself doing unless crowd control duty included riot gear. :P

[identity profile] samunderani.livejournal.com 2004-09-02 12:57 am (UTC)(link)
of course they're underappreciated. "if you can't do, teach." what a horrible horrible thing to say, but people do. and some people actually go about proving them right. but when no one wants to teach, it's hard to keep the standards of teachers high. people like me who actually WANT to do this are rarities and often sidetracked into other things.

you i could see teaching on the college level, someday, but not anytime soon.

plus i don't think riot gear suits you ;)
