I was a bike thief my last life

There's a fascination I have in working with my hands to mess with tools. After checking a sports outlet for parts, we found a number of bikes that they tossed, all of them junked up just to make sure someone didn't get a free lunch. We took the aluminum frames over to where we stow garbage stuff and I ended up working the parts out. Tonight I ended up taking apart bikes one after the other. By the time I was done, I had already stripped clean one bike and was halfway done with another. I'm not sure if these parts are worth anything or not, but I had a surprising amount of fun just stripping them clean. If these parts are worth something, then I can think of doing this normally. Yeah, either I should own a bike shop or become a full-time bike thief.

i love working with my hands, on occaison. though with me it's all about the mind-numbing relaxation of cleaning tack. plus the smell is great. bridles have all these parts to disconnect and then reassemble, and saddles always have little nooks you really have to work at. it's rewarding, though, doing things with your hands. it's why i loved sculpture. creating beauty from raw materials. meh. anyway. just keep away from my bike! *hugs it tight and rings the pony-bell*
