I crave IHOP

I don't have the appetite for it all, but I miss engorging myself on their awesome red potatoes and pancakes. Skillets are clearly something superior. Even their pancakes were nice and fluffy and they had four types of syrup to enjoy it with. For what it's worth, the cost made it all an awesome deal.

Oddly enough, this also brings back a tale about a waitress that worked in IHOP along 17 that my friends jokingly referred to as "Speed Woman," because she always seemed to be running around everywhere (kind of like me on a busy day). The irony of it? My friends told me that later on when they went there, there was a shrine to her put up. She was murdered by her drug dealer. She really just might have been a "Speed Woman" after all.

IHOP in general tends to have lots of good memories for me. Oh, and the food is always awesome. They're the only place I can eat liver and onions at since it never tastes awful there. The other things are awesome, like that mexican salad, the battered onion rings, and everything else was good (at least, the one around 17 was great).

And if you're cursing me out for striking you with hunger, then I can always tell you about what I found in my aquarium last night... ;)

Is IHOP not on your list of goodness?

[identity profile] assfingers.livejournal.com 2006-03-14 03:44 pm (UTC)(link)
no no no no no.

I am an OPH sort of fellow. You should travel to one as soon as humanly possible.

They don't have red potatoes? :(

We had IHOP over the weekend. It was horrible. I normally like IHOP, but we won't be going back to that one.

[identity profile] zesty-pinto.livejournal.com 2006-03-14 04:13 pm (UTC)(link)
Hmm, that is true. Some IHOPs are lousy, I did notice that.

I just found one in New York so maybe I'll check if it's as decent as the one around 17. That one is excellent.

i love me some pancakes! but you gotta admit that IHOP is best enjoyed at 3am.

[identity profile] zesty-pinto.livejournal.com 2006-03-14 04:13 pm (UTC)(link)
They stay open at 3am where you are? The ones around here shut off by 11 or so. :\

Many in the midwest are open 24 hours. I've seen some in the south, too.

[identity profile] zesty-pinto.livejournal.com 2006-03-14 04:36 pm (UTC)(link)
Bah! To think I miss these things out. :(

[identity profile] delennamachoo.livejournal.com 2006-03-14 04:37 pm (UTC)(link)
I love Denny's in the middle of the night, but there aren't many in the south. IHOP seems to control the south.

[identity profile] zesty-pinto.livejournal.com 2006-03-14 04:45 pm (UTC)(link)
New England is fairly scarce of the Denny's control, I noticed. My brother can't stand them.

[identity profile] delennamachoo.livejournal.com 2006-03-14 04:46 pm (UTC)(link)
Interesting. Denny's in the midwest has changed a lot...improved significantly....they've gone for a 50s diner theme with the silver awnings and such. The food is much better, too. IHOP out there is like old Denny's now.

[identity profile] zesty-pinto.livejournal.com 2006-03-14 04:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Hmm, that's probably the Denny's he remembers. The new ones, like those commercials for Sonic, are something I will have to eventually find out when I get the chance(there's no Sonic's within New York for about a couple of miles and miles, easily, which makes me wonder all the more why they have those commercials here).

i remember going to Sonis as a kid...before they closed.

waffle house

Sometimes I get nostalgic about Waffle House, one at every interstate exit down south. My favorite late night spot lately has been the South Street Diner in Boston. Usually I don't like eating food that late, as my stomach does not thank me for it the next day. 24 hour breakfast is great though, it's really the only meal that's good any time of day.

As for Sonic, I wish we had them in New England, I love the cherry and vanilla cokes, the cherry limeade, and all the tasty beverages they have. Can't forget the cheese tater tots as well!

Those commercials they have here are evil, I want to check one out even if it's just pure hype.

Then again, I can make do since they finally built 7-Elevens around the metropolitan area. I missed slurpies like something harsh.

Mmmm....waffle house.

The IHOP by my house isn't that great, which is surprising, since it's the "Mall of America" IHOP, and stuff associated with that behemoth tends to be of a higher standard. The last time I went, I ordered a combo breakfast thing, and our waitress totally forgot the pancakes. !!! Then she rushed to get them to me, but she still wasn't fast enough, so I was done with the meal by the time she brought the soggy, undercooked pancakes. Because she fucked up the restaurant's signature dish, she did not get a tip.

I'll give IHOP another shot based on your glowing report, but it will definitely be at a different location!

The ones I went to in Jersey tended to be good for some reason.

That order you mentioned, though, does remind me of why I can't stand TGI Fridays around here.

my last ihop trip

Last time I went to IHOP (Tewksbury, MA) I ordered a brownie sundae, and it did not have any ice cream. It was late at night, so I decided not to bother complaining, I just haven't gone back to that one (besides I hate Tewksbury, MA).

I've not been to an IHOP since i left California.
