Temp job's finally reaching its end

Because of that, I am glad. Really glad. But that's not entirely why I've been slacking off on updating this thing.

Ever have days when you feel like you can't go to sleep properly? Yeah, well, I can't seem to sleep beyond 8 o'clock now. Oh, beloved afternoon coma, where hast thou gone?

Most of my time as of late has been gone to the fish tank. Progress has been good.

This was my last progress a few weeks ago, around the beginning of July. As you can tell, I went for a planted aquarium feel, so everything in there that looks natural is natural. Spent months reading up on CO2 injection kits and marine chemistry and everything else. Not long after this photo, I picked up my first victimsfishies. They lived out the first few days, meaning my tank is survivable.

Currently how the tank looks. Lighting may look better because it's daytime when I took this photo instead of nighttime. Otherwise, it could be because I also cleaned the hood lights. Algae loves those lights. Also had some snail stowaways that ate at my plants. Evil snails. Despite this, plants *are* growing, even if some of them are in pretty shoddy condition from the constant attempts to inject CO2 into the system. If things look fuzzier around the tank from the previous photo, it's very likely because it is. In one day, my tank got cleaned through thanks to my magical new tank workers.

Wood shrimp! This is one of two, but the other one was hiding away. This one I got to preoccupy with a spirulina disc. The two of these guys cleaned out my tank's surface in one day. To say I was shocked would have been a gross understatement. I love these little guys for making my gravel look a lot nicer than it was for the past few weeks.

In the real life sitch, I'm still job hunting. Have a "phone interview" for one possible job, which still sounds like something fairly sketchy, so I'm not going to keep my fingers crossed for now. In the meantime, I guess I'll be working some more on that tank and keep myself on the lookout for some new tankmates(still want some algae shrimp) and maybe a couple more replacement plants that I have a feeling I'll have to buy online.
