Interesting...
Mar. 22nd, 2006 01:12 pmAs a kid that grew up in a macrobiotic restaurant, I always was unsure about what the hype was about organic food. I like to discuss the differences with people about it, often pointing out a journal study or two I notice on the "differences" between organic and nonorganic farming.
So with that said, I was interested when I noticed this article pulled from one of the (hopefully) more unbiased sites you could expect. Some of the stuff I already knew (grown by large farm companies? Small surprise there) and some of it I didn't ("mismatching" the growers with their product of origin).
To be honest, I tend to also point the finger of elitism around as well, so I doubt I'm much better than any of the bigots out there by pointing out something that goes with my philosophy, but at the very least I think it's good to be skeptical about everything. Why? Because Psyche majors know that even statistical reports can be used to mislead (look at the "Mozart Effect" for crying out loud!).
