Calm day, despite how I'm waiting for a big thing to be rushed out in the next 24 hours and then I will MOVE MOVE MOVE GO GO GO with the materials. But for now, I float.

I pulled out some duct tape and started to check for gaps in the screen door and found a few issues.

1. The screen for the screen door is coming loose. The string that holds in the screen is not holding in and I think it's because of constant bombardment by june bugs. We'll need to hit a hardware store to get a thicker line.

2. The slot that the door closes into has cracks in it and the cracks are preventing the door from closing properly. I'm going to need to find a replacement spline for that door. I have no idea what the term is for that bar though, the z-bar maybe? I'm just as tempted to snap off the cracked part, but that's lazy and delaying the inevitable should we move.

The weather is raining on and off. Eating the last of the biryani and I realized that I really could use a more flavorful playfulness with the flavor mixing.

I wanted to try again with the pad thai now that I have all the proper parts. Now I added the cilantro and really chunky peanut butter and more eggs. The result is better; much better! Well outside of the sand from poorly washed cilantro. I may make this a regular thing now. I did forget to add lemon juice, though. I'll still mark it a success. I know at least if I can toy with this formula a little more, I can make a proper drunken noodle for once.

Spread the plant food into the outside planter where I put some dill seeds, coriander, and basil. We'll see how it goes. Also set up some pods for some squash and watercress. Again, we'll see.

I'm hoping the plant food in the indoor planter is going to succeed. The tomatoes inside are doing decently enough, so I'll see if I can set up some cages soon enough. I think they're ready. I'd like to do it while the weather is still wet so either today or tomorrow.

Amazing, a short post for once, huh?

Ugh, screen doors are such a pain to deal with. I hope you get it fixed soon.
Good luck with the cooking and gardening. How long have you been planting tomatoes and other food? Do you enjoy it and is it worthwhile for you guys? I'm thinking about doing this myself someday, just so there's certain things I won't have to buy anymore. But I've got a bit of a black thumb to be honest.

You make it sound easy! I hope I'm able to get good results like you did when you started. <3

So, here you are.

I love our giant screen door, and hate our giant screen door. All kinds of critters can fit nicely under it, and come in to visit. And Squish is worthless as a bugger, so someone has to get up and either kill or relocate whatever has come in "this time".

My two tomato plants are growing fast, finally. The Sun Glory took off like a wild thing, and just when I was thinking the Snow White was not going to happen (I transferred both outside at same time, they were identical in size to start, and the SG bushed out, and grew up to the second ring of the cage in like 2 weeks, but the SW didn't even make it to the lowest ring in that same time) it finally decided to GROW and is almost caught up to it's sibling plant.

And now I'm hungry, thanks ever so much!

I like dill. The smell too.

Look how handy you're being! I need to be more house-handy. Our screen door in the front is slowly falling apart (parts keep breaking off it, including the frame itself), and the screen in window we frequently open in the kitchen is full of holes, which means we can't open it or we get flies. However, Doug and I are terrible at being handy, so we just look at it all helplessly and shrug. Ha.

Yeah, at that point I'd move. It's silly to invest big money in someone else's property.

Doug owns the house, but he's not big on the handyman thing, and I'm pretty clueless about it myself. If I had money and Doug showed more interest, I'd be more enthusiastic about learning, but given I have to play the hen-pecking fish wife for all repairs and improvements, I've sort of lost interest myself in things. It literally took me at least 6 years to get Doug on board with painting the ugly pink living room a decent blue color. Ha. It's been 11 years now, and I'm still tapping my foot about the holes in the floor and the walls. Mind you, he bought a fixer-upper house he knew he'd have to fix up.

Well done diagnosing the door at least, though! I think all my doors and windows have one thing or another wrong! And I'm not smart enough or patient enough to know what to do about it!
